Bill introduced to amend AP Excise Act

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Oct. 5

THE State Government has introduced a Bill in the Legislative Assembly, further amending the Andhra Pradesh Excise Act, 1968.

The Bill proposes separate rules for tapping, manufacturing, supplying and selling liquor through wholesale, retail, bars, in house or bonafide purposes.

It replaces the Ordinance promulgated in May.

Introducing the Bill, Mr Konathala Ramakrishna, Minister for Excise, said a new section (68-B) had been inserted to empower the Government to make exemption or grant relaxation in respect of any of the provisions of the Act.

The Government had notified rules (Andhra Pradesh Indian Liquor and Foreign Liquor Rules, 1970) listing procedure for import permit, export permit, transport permission, license for sale, period of licence, privilege fee and grant of licence.

"The new Bill proposes separate of set of rules for different purposes," he said.

Consequently, the Government introduced another Bill to amend the Andhra Pradesh (Regulation of wholesale trade and distribution and retail trade in Indian liquor, foreign liquor, wine and beer) Act, 1993, in tune with the amended provisions of the Excise Act.
