People Sun Pharma CMD Shanghvi is new IPA President Our Bureau
Mumbai , Oct. 5 SUN Pharma's Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Dilip S. Shanghvi, is the new president of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA). He succeeds Mr H.F. Khorakiwala of the Wockhardt group. Mr Sudhir Mehta, Chairman of Torrent group, would be the new Vice-President of IPA, a note from the industry association said. The IPA was the brainchild of late Dr Parvinder Singh of Ranbaxy. But the forum has grown to include 13 members from the initial eight national drug companies that formed the alliance in 1999. Its members include Alembic, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Cadila Healthcare, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Unichem Laboratories, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, USV, Lupin Laboratories, Wockhardt and Matrix Laboratories. The collective research spending of these companies was over Rs 1,500 crore in the year ended March 2005.
