Supply Chain Management TNT Express hopes for higher growth G. Gurumurthy
Coimbatore , Oct. 5 TNT India Pvt Ltd, the Indian arm of the Netherland's business-to-business courier major, has chalked a higher growth path this year. The company is basking in double-digit growth in its international courier business with textile sampling couriers from Tirupur and Karur giving the required growth momentum. "We are growing 5 per cent higher than the overall courier industry's average annual growth of 20 per cent in India," said Mr N. Balu, Regional General Manager-South, TNT Express, the international courier business of the TNT India. Mr Balu attributed his company's business growth to couriers related to textile/garment, corporate business (from the multi national companies) and banking documents. "The courier business opportunities from the life science and biomedical sectors have in the past three years proved a potential business which has given a 200 per cent year-on-year growth," Mr Balu told Business Line. The special courier products needed for moving the temperature-controlled specimen from the biomedicine segment for testing/screening to far-off London or Singapore has given `niche' market for his company. With increased demand from the garment exporting community of Tirupur and Karur in the State on the day-definite, time-definite courier service, TNT India has pressed into specialised services including the premium `next day delivery' international couriering.
