Kochi , Oct. 6

TOYOTA Kirloskar Motor, joint venture Toyota Motor Corporation and Kirloskar Group, has formally announced the launch of a new customer initiative programme — SMILES — a new vehicle care programme for Toyota customers.

Announcing the pilot project for the first time in the country at Kochi on Thursday, Mr Ishimura, Manager, Service Marketing, TMC, said that the programme would cover periodic maintenance requirements and depreciation losses met by accidents for a nominal fee.

It also offers a host of value-added services such as flexibility of choosing the policies according to the mileage of the vehicle, 15 per cent discount on car care products, priority in appointment and multiple payment options. The programme is aimed at increasing customer satisfaction and retention.

Based on the success of the programme in Kochi, he said it would be launched in other parts of the country in a phased manner. India is one of the fastest growing markets and the country provides a challenging environment for introducing various unique programmes for customers, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sailesh Shetty, DGM, Sales, said that the present passenger car market in the country had touched the one-million mark and it is expected to reach two million by 2010. The company was aiming to garner 10 per cent share by 2010.

He said there were no plans to re-launch Qualis in the market, production of which had been stopped from December last year after Innova's launch. As many as 24,500 Innovas have been sold all over the country till date, of this, 10,000 vehicles were from the State, he said.
