THE Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has initiated mid-year review of anti-dumping duty imposed on imported D (-) Para Hydroxy Phenyl Glycine Methyl Potassium Dane Salt (PHPG Dane Salt) and D (-) Para Hydroxy Phenyl Glycine Base (PHPG Base) from Singapore.
The initiation follows a written plea from Kaneka Singapore Corporation, the exporter of both these chemicals, adducing the reasons for changed circumstances review. Among the reasons cited for review of anti-dumping duty on the subject goods by the exporting firm from Singapore is the fact that the export prices of both the chemicals to India have significantly come down. The Customs duty has been reduced from 35 per cent to 20 per cent. The dumping margin has significantly declined and thus, the benchmark fixed in the original probe should be reduced accordingly, the exporter contended.
The period of investigation, according to the authority, will be from July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005 while trends of injury analysis cover the year from 2002-03 to period of investigation.
