Mumbai , Oct. 7 MADURA Garments has launched international fashion brand, Esprit, in the Indian market. Addressing a press conference, Mr Hemchandra Javeri, President, Madura Garments, said that with the launch of this brand, the company has strengthened its brand portfolio in segments such as women's ready-to-wear, premium relaxed clothes and accessories. The company is seriously looking at getting premium international brands into the Indian market. Referring to talks of the company bringing Armani to India, Mr Javeri said that it is too early to talk about it. "There is definitely a big movement towards luxury brands in India, and we would be looking at associating with more international brands," he said. As far as Esprit is concerned, the company has opened showrooms in Bangalore and Mumbai, and would be shortly opening in Delhi. The company also plans to expand its presence in Chennai and Hyderabad in the next 12-18 months. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Thomas Grote, Group COO, Esprit, said the company's focus in the first one year would not be profits but to establish the brand in India. Both Mr Javeri and Mr Grote promised to offer international shopping experience at all their stores. "All the latest merchandise would be available at the stores in India at prices which would be almost similar to the prices they are retailed in Dubai or Hong Kong," said Mr Javeri. "The stores would have fresh merchandise every month, so that customers visit our stores more often," added Mr Grote. Mr Javeri said that the company's target for the first year would be to do business worth Rs 40-Rs 50 lakh a month at their store in Bangalore, while the Mumbai store is expected to do business worth Rs 50-Rs 60 lakh each month.
