Announcements Variety - Cinema Saregama to co-produce Indo-American film Our Bureau
Kolkata , Oct. 7 SAREGAMA India Ltd, an RPG Group company, has decided to co-produce an Indo-American film along with the New York-based Rapture Productions Inc. Mr Sanjiv Goenka, Vice-Chairman of the RPG Group, claimed this was the first time an Indian company was producing a Hollywood film. Shooting of the film will start next week. Rapture Productions is a film and TV software production company, owned by David Roma and Drena De Niro, daughter of Robert De Niro. The name of the film is Karma, Confessions & Holi. Hollywood actors such as Naomi Campbell, Drena De Niro, Sticky Fingas and Christopher Walken will be starring in the film along with Bollywood stars Sushmita Sen, Suresh Oberoi, Rati Agnihotri and others. "The original story was written by the New York-based writer Manish Gupta but as our intention was to make a global film, the screenplay was reworked by the American writer, Marcus Guillory", Mr Goenka told reporters at a press conference. According to him, the story is about an Indian family based in the US and has intrinsic humour on the lines of a `Woody Allen film'. It will be an English language film. Queried about the cost, Mr Goenka said he was unable to disclose it because Saregama had a non-disclosure agreement with Rapture Productions.
