Handicrafts fair to open in Delhi

MORE than 7,500 overseas buyers are expected to visit the Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF), which opens in the Capital on October 13. The five-day fair, to be spread over 80,000 sq. m., will give 1,800 exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their crafts and interact with the buyers.

Mr Navratan Samdria, Chairman, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, said, "Exhibitors from across the country will display about 800 handicraft items with different designs, colours, concepts and raw materials."

Buyers from countries such as the US, Germany, the UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Australia and New Zealand will visit the fair.

The fair has seen an increase in the number of participants from 313 in 1994-95 to 1,275 in 2004-05.
