Human development

This refers to the article "Human Development Index: Conundrum of rising income, growing poverty" (Business Line, September 27).

Growth of the farm sector and its diversification to enable it to absorb excess labour requires priority. Besides making education and healthcare accessible to all, action needs to be taken to end the social discrimination.

We have the advantage of a young population. Our education policy and employment strategies should be formulated to use this to our best advantage.
