`BPO sector has influenced job markets'

THE role of the Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) sector in the job market was highlighted at the valedictory session of the two-day conference on `Leveraging human capital for organisational excellence', organised by the Mangalore Chapter of National Institute of Personnel Management', in Mangalore on Saturday.

Mr Anantakrishna, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank Ltd, who delivered the valedictory address, said that BPO sector has gained momentum in the country in the past five years.

Stating that the boom in BPO sector has affected the job market in other sectors, he said the number of job applications received by the traditional companies and institutions is coming down every year. Mr P.A. Jose, President of the NIPM Mangalore Chapter, presided over the function.
