Supply Chain Management Premium postal products fetch Rs 43.13-cr revenue Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Oct. 9 THE Andhra Pradesh circle of the Department of Posts has recorded revenues of Rs 43.13 crore from premium products as on September 30, in the current financial year. These premium products include Speed Post, Business Post, Express Parcel Post, Greeting Post, Media Post, Retail Post, e-Post, Bill Mail Service and National Bill Mail service. The Principal Chief Post-Master General, Andhra Pradesh, Mr T.S. Govindarajan, has said that the circle has procured an amount of Rs 62.46 crore through Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rs 133.51 crore through rural Postal Life Insurance during the first half of the current financial year. About 282 sub-post offices have been taken up for computerisation and networking during 2005-2006. Money orders booked in the circle are being transmitted through a V-Sat network. The average number of money orders transmitted per day was about 4,220 and the average number of money orders received per day was about 3,060. Speaking on the World Post Day, he said that the National Postal Week would be observed during October 9-14, 2005. In order to bring all the postal financial services under one roof, the Department of Posts is planning to open exclusive financial marts in Hyderabad General Post Office and Secunderabad Head Post Office shortly, he said. Mr Govindarajan said all the postal financial products like savings bank, postal life insurance, oriental insurance with value-added services would be made available in these financial marts. These marts would be networked and computerised and connected to the central server.
