Trade unions in IT industry

This refers to a recent article, `BPO blues' (October 7, Business Line). The reaction of the IT industry to start trade unions is understandable. It will be good for the industry to operate on a level playing field with other industries.

It is the cheap (and highly qualified) labour that attracts IT investment. How much longer will we exploit qualified young men and women?

Insisting on discipline, efficiency and productivity is one thing and throwing away labour legislation of the last 58 years in the name of globalisation quite another.
