Kochi , Oct. 13

THE Cochin Steamer Agents Association has expressed concern over the recent strike by a section of port workers, deputed to India Gateway Terminal Pvt Ltd, demanding early disbursement of salary prior to the scheduled date of the last working day of every month.

The Association, in a letter to the Port Chairman, pointed out that the `wildcat' strikes had caused great deal of hardship, monetary loss and resulted in port users missing the mainline vessel connection.

The Association also urged the port management to put in place suitable measures to ensure that the interests of the trade are protected in future.
