Orchid Q2 net up at Rs 27.22 cr

ORCHID Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 27.22 crore for the second quarter of 2005-06 against Rs 3.96 crore in the year-ago period.

Turnover and operating income stood at Rs 239.32 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2005, in comparison to Rs 163.77 crore registered during the corresponding quarter of last fiscal.

The company said the launch of Ceftriaxone injectable generic product in the US market contributed to a dominant share of additional turnover and profits. .

"With the planned introduction of two more key generic cephalosporin formulations during this fiscal, one of which is again a product which will go off-patent in December 2005, we are confident of accelerating our generics performance," Mr K Raghavendra Rao, MD, Orchid Chemicals, said.
