Hyderabad , Oct 14

GAIL (India) Ltd is in the process of selecting equity partners for participating in the Nabuko gas pipeline project connecting Turkey with Austria.

Announcing this here at a press conference on Friday, Mr Proshanto Banerjee, Chairman and Managing Director, said the project was aimed at bringing Caspian gas to Austria via Turkey.

Mr Banerjee was in the city in connection with opening of air pollution related disease diagnostic centre at the MNJ Institute of Oncology here.

The centre was among the 22 planned by GAIL across the country.

The company would employ a new technology at the Krishnapatnam port in Andhra Pradesh to convert LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) into a ready to use gas on the ship carrying the LNG itself.

"At present, there are three/four re-gasification plants on the Western coast. Huge investments are needed to set up such plants. But we are launching a pilot at Krishnapatnam port to convert LNG on board," he said.

A feasibility study would be carried out.
