Tea Mixed trend at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi , Oct. 16 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Though dust sale witnessed a good general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the11,94,000-kg on offer in the dust category, CTCs were barely steady at around last levels and later irregularly easier by Re 1 to Rs 3. Orthodox highgrowns were firm to dearer and mediums were also steady to dearer. As per the figures made available with Forbes, Ewart & Figgis (Pvt) Ltd, the best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 50-68, medium CTC realised Rs 43-50 and below medium were quoted at Rs 20-25. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 80-94, medium BOPD realised Rs 32-38. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 21-26. The leaf sales witnessed only a less general demand and the quantity on offer was 4,35,000 kg. Orthodox were lower by Rs 3-4. CTCs also tended to ease by Re 1 to Rs 2. Exporters were selective this week. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 48-70, medium orthodox realised Rs 35-45. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 37-43, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs 32-34. In the dust category, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 96, followed by Pasuparai Cl.BOPF-S by Rs 94. In the leaf varieties, Chamraj OP realised the best prices of Rs 106, followed by Chamraj FOP-S by Rs 96.
