Letters Do we need Governors?
Except for some routine tasks such as inaugurating the sessions of the Legislative Assemblies, hoisting the national flag on suitable occasions or laying the odd foundation stone, Governors do not seem to be doing any thing worth the huge expenses involved in maintaining them in royal style of the erstwhile British Governors and Viceroys. When there is a Chief Minister, what is the need for a Governor? I think we can abolish the posts of Governors and the President, after suitably amending the Constitution. C .V. K.
