Idea expands switching capability in AP

IDEA Cellular Ltd, the private mobile telecom services provider, on Monday announced it has installed a new Mobile Switching Centre (MSC) in Hyderabad, its fourth here that will enhance its capacity by about 1,50,000 users.

The Circle Head, Idea Cellular, Mr Subbaraman Iyer, who inaugurated the switching centre, in a statement said, "This is another step towards excelling customer expectation on quality of service from Idea. The establishment of 4th MSC in Hyderabad, will provide seamless connectivity and congestion-free mobile experience to customers."

Idea has expanded its switching capability in Andhra Pradesh with installation of this new switch in Hyderabad that will support an additional 1.5 lakh customers. Based on the latest switching technology platforms, the new switch from Nokia is compatible with 3G network.

The new MSC is capable of handling over one million busy hour call attempts. Besides, with the installation of the new MSC, the existing Point of Interconnects (POI) between Idea and other operators will be augmented further and congestion existing between the networks will be relieved.
