Unichem Q2 net up at Rs 17.45 cr

UNICHEM Laboratories Ltd has recorded a net profit of Rs 17.45 crore for the three months ended September 30 2005, as compared to Rs 14.6 crore in the year-ago period.

The company clocked sales of Rs 122.44 crore for the quarter under review, up 7.4 per cent over Rs 108.34 crore last fiscal."This growth was achieved by the excellent performance of the international business division," a company communiqué said, following the company's board meeting to approve its unaudited results. Unichem also launched nine new products during the quarter.

Five products of the company, namely Ampoxin, Trika, Uni-Enzyme, Losar and Losar-H, are among the top 300 products as per ORG MAT August 2005. Unichem's subsidiary Nice Generics Ltd recorded sales of £2.76 million in Q2 2005-06 as compared to £2.41 million during the same period last fiscal. Mr Anand Yashavant Mahajan has been appointed as an additional director on the board of the company. Mr Mahajan is currently the Managing Director of Grindwell Norton Ltd.
