Rubber Sellers' low profile keeps rubber steady Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Oct. 18 THE domestic physical rubber prices were almost steady on Tuesday. The only exception was RSS 4 that improved to Rs 67 and Rs 66.75 a kg, from Rs 66.50 and Rs 66.25 at Kottayam and Kochi respectively. Sellers preferred to keep a low profile on the grade, as overseas reports were slightly positive. Short covering also helped to trigger the firm trend in sheet rubber. The futures turned better on NMCE with November contract quoting at Rs 65.70 (Rs 65.25), December at Rs 64.45 (Rs 63.90), January at Rs 64.60 (Rs 64.18) and February contract at Rs 64.90 (Rs 64.56) per kg for RSS 4. In MCX, the November contract for RSS 4 was also better at Rs 66 against Rs 64.87 a kg on Monday. RSS 3 improved to Rs 77.50 a kg from Rs 77.33 at Bangkok. Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 67 (Rs 66.50); RSS-5: Rs 64 (Rs 64); ungraded: Rs 61.50 (Rs 61.50); ISNR 20: Rs 63.50 (Rs 63.50); and latex 60 per cent: Rs 43.50 (Rs 43.50).
