Letters NTC land sale
"Bombay HC sets aside sale of NTC land", (Business Line, October 18) is a significant judgement. Whatever the final outcome, the issues raised by the High Court deserve consideration. Planned development is crucial. The importance of low-cost housing and the need to develop lung space cannot be ignored. A. Jacob Sahayam Thiruvanthapuram
The High Court has opined that, "if Mumbai is deprived of green lungs, the city may get a next generation full of idiots and morons". In fact, the present mess in Mumbai is because the governance of the city is in the hands of those who have `concrete' lungs! How else can one explain the reckless and thoughtless hacking of mangroves along Malad creek? Harischandra Parasuram Mumbai
