NTC land sale

"Bombay HC sets aside sale of NTC land", (Business Line, October 18) is a significant judgement.

Whatever the final outcome, the issues raised by the High Court deserve consideration. Planned development is crucial. The importance of low-cost housing and the need to develop lung space cannot be ignored.

The High Court has opined that, "if Mumbai is deprived of green lungs, the city may get a next generation full of idiots and morons".

In fact, the present mess in Mumbai is because the governance of the city is in the hands of those who have `concrete' lungs! How else can one explain the reckless and thoughtless hacking of mangroves along Malad creek?
