SBT union to hold seminar at Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Bank of Travancore (SBT) Staff Union, affiliated to the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), is organising a one-day seminar on `Bank mergers - A short cut to class banking.'

To be held on Friday, the seminar will bring into focus the proposed merger of associate banks of State Bank of India, of which SBT is one, into the parent bank. Unions across the industry are strongly opposed to the merger plan, said Mr K.G. James, President, and Mr P.V. Jose, General Secretary, of SBT Staff union.

Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, will inaugurate the seminar.
