New Delhi , Oct. 20

AHEAD of the mid-term review of the monetary and credit policy next week, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, Dr Y.V. Reddy on Thursday called on the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram.

Indications are that the contours of the proposed monetary and credit policy, which is to be unveiled on October 25, dominated the discussion at the meeting. The meeting lasted for more than an hour.

The RBI Governor preferred to be tight-lipped about the meeting, which is being seen by many as a customary meeting in the run-up to the mid-year review of the monetary and credit policy.

Analysts expect that the RBI may effect an upward revision in the reverse repo rate as well as the growth projections of the economy for the current fiscal.
