Trade & Labour Unions APSRTC staff end stir Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Oct 20 THE employees of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) have called off their two-day strike after hectic discussions with the Cabinet Sub-Committee and the management late on Wednesday night. The Government has agreed to release Rs 38 crore as reimbursement for offering concessions to various sections. Though the Government owed Rs 268 crore, it would release Rs 38 crore after deducting Rs 230 crore towards motor vehicle tax payable by the Corporation. The Government has agreed to wipe out the motor vehicle tax dues to the tune of Rs 330 crore for 2004-05. It would help the Corporation in clearing pending bills worth Rs 50 crore from different Government Departments. The staff would get an advance of Rs 3,000 that would be adjusted against the revision of pay scales. It was agreed to discuss and settle the pay revision at the earliest. The management agreed to regularise some casual drivers and conductors in a phased manner. It also agreed to not victimise those who participated in the strike. A committee would be constituted with both officials and employee representatives as members to examine the issue of outsourcing or contract system in the Corporation. The committee would submit its report in two months. A Joint Action Committee delegation met the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to thank him for showing interest in solving their demands. They presented a cheque for Rs 2.15 crore towards CM's Relief Fund. Meanwhile, South Central Railway has announced that it would cancel the special trains introduced two days back to take the extra load.
