Vizag airport to reopen today

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam airport, closed due to inundation last week, is to be reopened on Saturday, according to a press release issued by the airport authorities.

The x-ray baggage checking system and conveyor belt facilities have not been restored yet and there will be manual checking by the Central Industrial Security Force and airline security staff and "the passengers are requested to co-operate."

Drinking water and power supply have been restored, according to the release. "However, considering the health and hygienic aspects, arrangements for supply of mineral water are made at various places in the terminal building."

All the facilities will be restored in a couple of days.
