Advertising Ad agency iB&W in `resurgent mood' Ajita Shashidhar
Mumbai , Oct. 21 ADVERTISING agency, iB&W, is planning joint ventures with agencies in South-East Asia and West Asia for strategic brand management and media buying. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Mukesh Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, iB&W, ruled out the possibility of a sell out and said that the agency is in a resurgent mood after lying low for almost three years. He said that the agency was in advanced stages of discussion for joint ventures with a couple of agencies in West Asia. Mr Gupta said the agency is looking at positioning itself as the largest Indian advertising agency network, and is hoping to register a 75-80 per cent growth this year, vis-à-vis a 40 per cent growth last year. The agency went through a rough patch between 2001 and 2003, during which its growth was stagnant. "We want to showcase ourselves as an Indian agency, as we see tremendous scope for Indian companies to establish themselves in the global market." The agency over the last few months has bagged some new accounts such as Crocodile International, ITDC, the Ministry of Finance and Shaan Masala. It also handles the advertising account of Skoda India. However, Mr Gupta does not believe in acquiring too many accounts. "We make minimum pitches, as we believe that it is important to put our best for servicing our existing clients, instead of diverting it to acquire new business," he said. The agency is also looking at opening more offices and recruiting new talent. It has offices in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi and Coimbatore. The company also has a media-buying unit called AK&I which, according to Mr Gupta, is doing business worth Rs 450-500 crore.
