IndiGo picks V2500 engines for Airbus fleet

THE low-cost airline, IndiGo, has chosen the V2500 engines produced by the international consortium, International Aero Engines (IAE), to power its fleet of 100 Airbus A-320 family of aircraft.

The airline, jointly promoted by InterGlobe Enterprises Ltd and Mr Rakesh Gangwal, who during his two-decade long career in aviation has worked in senior management positions with leading airlines, including United Airlines, Air France and US Airways.

The A-320 family includes the Airbus A-320, A-321 and A-319 aircraft.

The shareholders of IAE include Pratt & Whitney of the US, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation, MTU Aero Engines of Germany and Rolls-Royce.
