New Delhi , Oct. 22

THE Mexican Embassy in New Delhi has been authorised to issue three-year multiple entry visas to Indian businessmen within 24 hours of their filing the application, said Ms Lourdes Aranda, Mexican Deputy Minister for Foreign Relations, here.

Addressing an interactive meeting organised by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, she said Mexico was keenly looking forward to scaling its trade and economic relations with India and towards this end, "we have started negotiations with the Indian Government on a Bilateral Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement and a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement, which would be announced shortly."

The Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr E.V.K.S. Elangovan, said Mexico could play an important part in India's modernisation drive. Sectors such as telecom, power, agri-food, plastics, oil and gas, forestry, highways, railways, ports, environment, minerals, aerospace and services represent some of the key sectors of opportunity for Mexican companies, he said.
