Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Captain C.P. Krishnan Nair, patriarch of the Leela Group, has offered to line the entire road stretch from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to the beach destination of Kovalam with avenue trees and flowering plants.

According to him, Kovalam was the most scenic beach destination anywhere in the world. Attending a function organised here by The Chamber of Commerce here to felicitate him, Capt Nair said that a similar road beautification work implemented at the Leela property in Mumbai would be transplanted to Kovalam.

The Governor, Mr R. L. Bhatia, conferred on Capt Nair the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the Chamber and the Trivandrum Agenda Task Force (TATF).

Among those who greeted Capt Nair were K.J. Yesudas, playback singer; Mr T. Balakrishnan, Principal Secretary, Industry and Commerce; Mr Bharat Bhushan, Principal Secretary, Tourism; and Mr V. K. Mathews, Chairman, TATF.
