Mumbai , Oct. 23

METLIFE has declared its maiden dividend of three per cent per annum for its participating policyholders.

This compound reversionary dividend will be applied on the sum assured of all participating policies that have been in force for at least two years and were in force as of March 31, 2005. The dividend will become due and payable only upon the occurrence of the insured event, as per policy conditions.

The products on which MetLife has declared this dividend are the whole life and endowment par policies - sold as Met Whole Life (Par), Met Endowment Junior (Par) and Met Endowment (Par). In terms of a simple interest equivalent, the compounded reversionary dividend of three per cent of the sum assured will mean a simple reversionary dividend of 4.2 per cent per annum of the sum assured on a 25-year endowment policy.
