A welcome decision

This refers to the story, "Rlys to plant jatropha for captive use," (Business Line, October 20).

The decision to cultivate jatropha for captive use by the Railways is welcome. Jatropha is a plant that can survive tropical conditions.

If the Railways lease the unused land around railway tracks and railway marshalling yards, and even spaces around residential colonies, they can generate substantial income.

One hopes that the Railway Ministry will tap the potential of this wonder plant.
