Mobile Hutch Shop launched in Chennai

HUTCH introduced its Mobile Hutch Shop, a van that is manned and equipped to provide services to customers, here.

Mr Samuel Selvakumar, Operations Director - South, Hutch, declined to comment on Hutch's actual share of the market in the city, but said that it had drawn 32,000 new subscribers in September. The shop, which contains three customer service desks, does the rounds in the city, giving Hutch customers advance notice through SMS when it is in their neighbourhood.

The shop provides services such as sale of prepaid SIM cards, activation of postpaid connections, information on subscription of value added services, and change of mobile number.

Mr Selvakumar said that initially there would be only one van operating in Chennai. Hutch also announced the launch of "My Hutch," a customer initiative where the customer can change the talk plan, pay bills and subscribe to new services on the Internet.

Mr Sankara Narayanan, Chief Operating Officer, Hutch - Chennai, said that ch customers could view and manage their account online from anywhere in the world with this new service. The service also allows customers to access their current and old bills.
