THE Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), at its recently concluded three-day Indian engineering exhibition (Indee 2005) in Mexico, besides generating serious enquiries, concluded contracts worth over $1 million.
Some 150 Indian companies participated in the exhibition, including TVS Motor, Hero Cycles, Bajaj International and Forbes Gokak.
The Council also signed an MoU with `Canacintra', one of the largest chambers of manufacturing companies in Mexico with a membership of over 35,000.
This is expected to help the business community of both the countries exchange trade information and expand ties.
As a follow-up, a Mexican business delegation is expected to visit India in February.
Briefing newspersons here, Mr Rakesh Shah, Chairman, EEPC, said `Indee-Mexico' was a major breakthrough in trade relations between the two countries.
He said that joint venture and technology transfer opportunities have been identified.
Pointing out the immense potential of Mexico as a market for engineering goods, Mr Shah said thatthe country's engineering imports totalled $10.6 billion, and India's share of this was less than 1 per cent.
