Our Correspondent

Madurai , Oct. 26

A TOTAL subsidy of Rs 175 crore is available for developing agricultural marketing infrastructure to help farmers in rural areas, the Senior Marketing Officer, Directorate of Marketing, Union Ministry of Agriculture, Mr S. Noohu Kannu, has said.

Entrepreneurs can locate the projects at a place where direct service delivery could be effected for the benefit of producers and the farming community in post-harvest management and marketing of the produce, Mr Kannu said at a workshop organised by the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (Nabard) at Thanjavur, recently.

He said the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection, Union Ministry of Agriculture, would release the subsidies through Nabard or the National Cooperative Development Corporation.
