Maran urged to help develop Madurai airport

Our Correspondent

Madurai , Oct. 26

THE Madurai District Tiny and Small-Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) has appealed to the Union Minister for IT and Communications, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, to help develop Madurai Airport to the international standard for air connectivity.

Recalling the meeting that Maditssia had with him at Madurai Airport during January this year and the resultant declaration of Madurai as Tier II IT destination, the association, in a memorandum submitted to him on his visit to the city on Monday, sought the use of the good offices of the Minister for the development of Madurai Airport. As the association has a vision to develop Madurai as the gateway to South India for IT and ITES establishment, the Minister should expeditiously seek to set up an IT park on the lines of Tidal Park at Chennai for the benefit of the small scale sector in particular and for the development of industries in South Tamil Nadu, the association said.
