Bombay Dyeing Q2 net jumps to Rs 26.58 cr

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Oct 26

BOMBAY Dyeing and Manufacturing Co Ltd has posted an increased net profit of Rs 26.58 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2005, over Rs 10.31 crore in the corresponding previous period.

Its net sales for the quarter rose to Rs 263.78 crore (Rs 260.25 crore).

The company's operations during the quarter were affected by the July 26 floods in Maharashtra. The textile division received Rs 16.51 crore insurance for flood-damaged goods. However, the company lost turnover in the export markets owing to damaged goods.

The collapse of the MSEB 220 KV towers supplying power to the DMT (dimethyl terephthalate) plant resulted in loss of around 12,500 tonnes of DMT production.

The scrip closed at Rs 279.05, slightly higher than its previous close of Rs 278.60 on BSE.
