Bangalore , Oct 27

POSITIONING itself as an ideal gateway to Europe, the German State of Bavaria on Thursday invited Indian IT firms to set up shop to tap the market in that region.

Speaking at a seminar on `Europe via Munich: Market opportunities for Indian IT firms in Bavaria/Germany' at BangaloreIT.in 2005, Mr Heinz Kopp, Consul-General of Germany at Chennai, said that Germany, which is in the heart of Europe, was an ideal location for Indian companies to invest and forge business partnerships.

Indian IT companies such as Infosys, TCS, and Wipro have already set up operations in Germany, which is the third largest IT market after the US and Japan, Mr Kopp added.

Bavaria offers great potential for the Indian companies to develop the German and the European markets, he said.

"Munich, the capital of Bavaria, is the ideal gateway to Germany and we are looking at close partnerships with companies in Karnataka," he said.
