Software Language software tools, fonts soon Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Oct. 27 THE Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has prepared a plan to roll out language software tools and fonts in all the 22 official languages in the country. "The roll-out plan that began early this year will be completed in 18-24 months," officials of the Ministry said. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr Ajeer Vidya, Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry, said the Ministry would launch the Urdu package on November 9. "Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Assamese and Gujarati have also been lined up for release in the coming months," he said. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will release free Telugu software tools and fonts CD here on Friday. Mr Dayanidhi Maran, Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology, would also be present. The Chief Minister will also launch the Web site that offered free downloads.
