TVS Motor Company has clocked 6.7 per cent fall in post-tax profit for the second quarter at Rs 31.95 crore compared to Rs 34.24 crore in the same quarter last year.

However, turnover at Rs 815.36 crore was higher by 8.5 per cent compared to Rs 751.52 crore earlier.

Motorcycles sales, at 1.88 lakh vehicles, recorded 17 per cent growth.

The turnover in the first half ended September 2005 was at Rs 1,561.96 crore (Rs 1,369.59 crore).

For the half year, profit before tax was down at Rs 82.38 crore (Rs 95.03 crore), while profit tax also fell to Rs 56.85 crore (Rs 61.42 crore).

Towards the end of the quarter, two motorcycles - StaR City and Victor EDGE - were launched.

"These three new offerings are targeted at different segments of two-wheeler customers with emphasis on superior styling and engine capabilities," said a release. It added that the company would soon launch a 150 cc bike.
