BANGALORE: In its bid to help the people afflicted by the recent earthquake, Indian Airlines carried relief material from different stations in the country to Srinagar free of cost.

The national carrier will carry additional quantity of materials, consisting of tents, blankets, medicines, packed food and milk powder, in the next few days, said an official release.

Earlier in February-March, the airline had operated 28 special flights to Srinagar to transport more than 2,000 passengers when the Valley was affected by snowfall.

In a similar feat, it lent its helping hand during the Gujarat earthquake in 2001 and operated special flights to transport more than 700 passengers.
