Mr Sunil Mehta, Country Head and CEO — India, American International Group, said that with the insurance industry generating employment, adequate training was needed.

"Every year, around 6,50,000 agents are added to the insurance industry and we need to train them. Training is the nerve centre of this business".

Mr Vijay Sinha, Vice-President and Head - Distribution Training and Development, said that in the case of complex investment products such as ULIPS, training was crucial for the agents. Of Tata AIG's 36,000-strong agency force, only 10,000 are permitted to sell ULIPs.
