Dhanam releases handbook on shipping

The handbook contains essential details of the Shipping Ministry and various ports in the country.

Kochi , Oct 28

THE Kochi-based business fortnightly Dhanam has brought out a handbook on Shipping and Ports 2005 containing several information related to the shipping industry.

Priced at Rs 200, the book contains articles and features on the evolution of maritime trade, the maritime legacy of Kochi, the growth of Kochi port, an overview of the various export oriented industries such as coir, spices, cashew and marine products.

The directory part of the publication contains listing of steamer agents, customs, clearing agents, shipping agents, shipping lines, forwarding agents and several other related groups and bodies.

The handbook also contains essential details of the Shipping Ministry and various ports in the country.

The Kochi port Chairman, Mr N. Ramachandran, released the book here on Friday by handing over a copy to Mr Suresh Joseph, General Manager of India Gateway Terminal Pvt Ltd.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said Kochi is going to play a major role in the developmental activities of the State with the completion of various projects in and around the city. These types of handbook will benefit the trade by providing valuable information, he added.
