PUNE: Amara Raja Batteries, which is in the midst of expanding its footprints across the country, said here on Friday it would significantly increase the number of its branded PitStop retail outlets from the current level of 72 to 110 by the end of the current fiscal. The company, which set up the PitStop concept as part of its initiative to tap the huge replacement market in the country, said it was aiming to get at least 20 per cent of the replacement market for batteries with the concept.

"The total replacement market in the country is estimated at 8.5 million batteries and we want to get at least 20 per cent of the share of the organised market," Mr Ganesh Swaminathan, National Sales Manager, said here. The company has inaugurated its second PitStop outlet in Pune. Amaron PitStop is a retailing concept kicked off by the automotive battery manufacturer to offer customers a complete brand experience. "We are also using the PitStops as collection centre for used batteries for safe recycling, in line with current environment norms," Mr Swaminathan said. With plans to expand their presence in the market, the company's pitStop outlets in Maharashtra will go up from the current level of 10 to 21 by the end of the current fiscal, he added.
