New Delhi , Oct. 28

THE US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is to open its first ever liaison office here, said the US Secretary for Transportation, Mr Norman Y. Mineta.

The office that will be staffed full time by a permanent FAA representative will strengthen the partnership FAA has with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Addressing a conference in Washington, Mr Mineta called the Indian transportation sector "dynamic" and asked US companies to explore opportunities here. The conference had been organised by the US-India Business Council and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
