BHEL Q2 net up 64.5 pc at Rs 260.2 cr

NEW DELHI: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Friday reported a 64.5 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 260.2 crore in the second quarter this fiscal as compared to a net of Rs 158.2 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
Net profit in the first half this fiscal rose 113.5 per cent to Rs 388 crore, as against Rs 181.7 crore during the same period last fiscal. The first half net sales increased by 53.7 per cent to Rs 4,902.1 crore (Rs 3,189.3 crore). The power equipment giant had an outstanding order book of Rs 32,200 crore by the end of second quarter, it said.
Revenues from the power segment stood at Rs 210.80 crore in the second quarter compared to Rs 129.48 crore a year ago. Revenues from the industry segment stood at Rs 77.13 crore as against Rs 67.49 crore in July-September 2004-05.
Net profit from power segment grew to Rs 42.21 crore in the second quarter from Rs 26.40 crore while that from the industry business increased to Rs 11.47 crore from Rs 8.95 crore a year ago, the release said.
