Non-food credit up Rs 20,469 cr

GROSS bank credit increased by Rs 18,128 crore to touch Rs 12,74,268 crore for the fortnight ended October 14, according to the Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

This is inclusive of food credit, which decreased by Rs 2,341 crore to touch Rs 37,208 crore, and non-food credit which increased by Rs 20,469 crore to touch Rs 12,37,060 crore.

Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investments in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper was Rs 13,20,083 crore.
