Madras Cements net jumps 44 pc; to pay Rs 5 interim

MADRAS Cements Ltd has reported a 44 per cent jump in net profit and a 25 per cent increase in sales for the quarter ended September 30, 2005 over the previous corresponding quarter.

The board of directors has recommended an interim dividend of Rs 5 a share (50 per cent).

Its profit after tax for the second quarter of 2005-06 was Rs 18.81 crore on net sales of Rs 246.09 crore compared to a profit after tax of Rs 13.08 crore on sales of Rs 196.05 crore for the second quarter of last year.

For the first half of this year, the company had a net profit of Rs 36.87 crore on sales of Rs 465.96 crore compared to a net profit of Rs 30.21 crore on sales of Rs 371.08 crore for the corresponding period last year.
