MUMBAI: Indian Hotels Company Ltd has posted a 18.69 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 26.48 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2005, against Rs 22.31 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2004.

The company has attributed the performance to an improvement in room occupancies and steady growth in the food and beverage business.

Total income for the quarter increased by 24.26 per cent to Rs 226.13 crore, from Rs 181.98 crore. During the half-year ended September 30, 2005, the company posted a net profit of Rs 43.39 crore compared to Rs 28.71 crore for the half-year ended September 30, 2004.

Total income during this period increased by 23.48 per cent to Rs 433.24 crore (Rs 350.84 crore).

At the close of trading on the BSE on Friday, the share was quoted at Rs 725.05 as against its previous close of Rs 741.65.
