Record deliveries of Oct contracts in 10 commodities on NCDEX

OCTOBER futures contracts posted a record open interest to deliveries at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX).

Out of the 18 commodities which recorded deliveries at the exchange, as many as10 posted open interest to deliveries ratio of over 80 per cent.

Of these, deliveries in eight commodities touched new heights. New records were made in deliveries of castor at 2,520 tonnes, chana at 1,300 tonnes, pepper at 887 tonnes, lemon tur at 10,920 tonnes and wheat at 4,400 tonnes.

Deliveries on metal contracts also broke new ground with gold deliveries touching 26 kg, silver at 21,210 kg and MS ingots at 200 tonnes, a press release from NCDEX has said.

The previous record for castor was in March when 1,340 tonnes went in for delivery. In the case of chana, the previous record was set in September at 1,180 tonnes. In fact, deliveries in chana have been showing a consistently rising trend for the past three months, the exchange observed.
