New Delhi , Oct. 30

AN additional power of 3870 MW would be generated in Uttar Pradesh in the next five years, said Mr A.K. Gupta, Industrial Development Commissioner, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

He was speaking at an interactive meeting with members of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He said first unit of Tehri Power Project with a generation capacity of 350 MW would be commissioned by early next year and the second unit would be commissioned in about six months after that.

"Despite this increase in power generation during the next five years, the gap between demand and supply of power would remain at 3000 MW," he said.

He also said a Single Table Clearance System Act would be introduced in the forthcoming Assembly session to facilitate industry to come to the State.

The system would give statutory approval for setting up new industry projects.
